LG washing machine error codes – Washing machines - front load & fully automatic top load
17 codes from the LG service manual, with what each one means and the usual causes. Older LG models show E1 (= IE), E2 (= OE), E3 (heater/sensor), E4 (= FE), E5 (= dE), E6 (= LE/CE).
You can safely switch the unit off at the switch, wait 5 minutes and switch on again. Don't open the unit, touch wiring or handle gas: these checks need a trained technician.
IEalso 1E
Water not filling (inlet error)
What our technician checks
- Both taps fully open? Inlet hose kinked? Inlet valve mesh filter clogged with sediment? Check household water pressure.
OEalso 0E
Water not draining (outlet error)
What our technician checks
- Clean the drain pump filter (bottom front) - coins, hair, lint. Check drain hose for kinks and standpipe height (max ~1 m).
UEalso UB
Unbalanced load - spin stopped
What our technician checks
- Laundry bunched (blankets, heavy towels)? Machine level on all four feet? On old machines check shock absorbers/suspension.
vSalso uS
Vibration sensor error
What our technician checks
- Machine level and clear of the wall? Load size.
dEalso dE1, dE2, dL
Door not locked
What our technician checks
- Clothing caught in the latch? Door/lid closing fully? Door interlock continuity.
PE
Water level (pressure) sensor error
What our technician checks
- Pressure hose from tub to sensor blocked or kinked? Soap residue in the hose.
FE
Overfill - water above the limit
What our technician checks
- Visible overflow = inlet valve stuck open. Lots of foam = too much detergent. Normal level = pressure sensor.
tEalso TE
Water temperature sensor (thermistor) error
What our technician checks
- Unplug and measure the thermistor - roughly 30 kΩ at room temperature, falling as it warms
- open = failed. Check connectors. Descale in hard water.
LEalso LE1
Motor locked
What our technician checks
- Overloaded? Foreign object (bra wire, coin) between drum and tub? With power off, does the drum turn freely by hand?
CE
Motor over-current
What our technician checks
- Overload, drum obstruction.
SE
Hall sensor (rotor position) error
What our technician checks
- Drum turns freely? Hall sensor connector on the stator.
AE
Water leak detected in the base (anti-flood)
What our technician checks
- Tilt back to drain the base
- look for leaks at door seal, internal hoses, pump, inlet valve. Excess suds can also trigger it.
E3
Drain motor / load detection error
What our technician checks
- Drain path and motor.
FF
Freeze error
What our technician checks
- Machine kept in freezing conditions.
PF
Power failure during the cycle
What our technician checks
- Power cut or loose plug.
CL
Child lock on (not a fault)
Book a technician for CLtcL
Tub clean reminder (not a fault)
