LG AC error codes – Inverter split AS-W0964/1264/1865DH0 & GH0, AS-W1224/1424/1825DH0
9 codes from the LG service manual, with what each one means and the usual causes. Error code = number of blinks of the indoor operation LED (and red LED01M on outdoor PCB), repeated every 3 s. Codes 1,2,4,10 clear when fixed; 5,8,9 stay until restart; 6,7 need power reset.
You can safely switch the unit off at the switch, wait 5 minutes and switch on again. Don't open the unit, touch wiring or handle gas: these checks need a trained technician.
1also CH01 (models with digital display)
Indoor room/pipe sensor open or short
Usual causes
- Sensor open/short, not connected to indoor PCB, sensing circuit fault (R01H-R04H, C01H, C02H)
What our technician checks
- Unplug and measure: air sensor ~10 kΩ at 25°C, pipe sensor ~5 kΩ at 25°C. Check it is plugged into CN-TH1 and the sensing resistors/capacitors on the PCB.
2also CH02 (models with digital display)
Outdoor sensor open or short
Usual causes
- Outdoor sensor open/short or unplugged, outdoor sensing circuit (R03H-R06H, C02H, C03H)
What our technician checks
- Measure outdoor air sensor ~10 kΩ / pipe ~5 kΩ at 25°C
- check CN-TH1 on outdoor PCB.
4also CH04 (models with digital display)
Heat-sink sensor open/short or heat-sink over 95°C
Usual causes
- Heat-sink thermistor damaged, heat-sink over 95°C, sensing circuit (R01H, R02H, C01H)
What our technician checks
- Heat-sink sensor ~10 kΩ at 25°C at CN-TH2
- check IPM screws/heat-sink paste and outdoor airflow.
5also CH05 (models with digital display)
Indoor / outdoor communication error
Usual causes
- Wrong/missing interconnect wiring, indoor or outdoor comms components, outdoor power supply, no earth (noise)
What our technician checks
- Wiring must match 1(BR)-1, 2(BL)-2, 3(GN/YL)-3, 4(RD)-4. Outdoor terminal block ~AC 220/240 V. Outdoor PCB DC 5 V. Check fuse, NF01/02J, PTC, power module, BD-01S. Check earth.
6also CH06 (models with digital display)
DC peak error (IPM over-current / compressor lock)
Usual causes
- Bad supply, CN-U/V/W loose or swapped, compressor coil short, overcharge, outdoor PCB/IPM faulty. Also set if DC link < 140 V 5× in 1 h, or outdoor pipe > 65°C (fan lock) 5× in 1 h. IPM trip at 35 A ±3 A.
What our technician checks
- Supply ~AC 220/240 V. CN-U RD, V BL, W YL. Compressor U-V, V-W, U-W 1-2 Ω, to body > 10 MΩ. Check SPM pins (GND-P,U,V,W) for short, DC 15 V output of power module, IPM screws.
7also CH07 (models with digital display)
Over-current (CT2)
Usual causes
- Bad supply, indoor/outdoor fan locked, overcharge, current-sensing circuit fault. Set when current reaches I2 5× in 1 h.
What our technician checks
- Supply voltage
- both fans run
- refrigerant pressure. CT wire, BD01N orientation, R01N 1 kΩ, R02N 1.65 kΩ, D01N/D02N direction. I2 = 9 A (9K), 10 A (12K), 13 A (18K).
8also CH08 (models with digital display)
Indoor fan lock (BLDC fan models)
Usual causes
- Fan blocked or loose on shaft, fan connector unplugged, DC fan drive circuit fault
What our technician checks
- Turn blower by hand
- check CN-MOTOR1 soldering/connector
- drive circuit R01F-R09F, C01F-C03F, IC01F-IC03F, Q01F-Q02F, ZD01F.
9also CH09 (models with digital display)
Outdoor fan lock (BLDC fan models)
Usual causes
- Fan blocked (branches, debris), connector CN-FAN2 unplugged, DC fan drive circuit fault
What our technician checks
- Spin fan by hand
- check CN-FAN2
- drive circuit R01F-R05F, C01F-C03F, Q01F-Q04F, ZD01F.
10also CH10 (models with digital display)
Discharge pipe sensor open or short
Usual causes
- D-pipe sensor open/short or unplugged, sensing circuit (R07H, R08H, C04H)
What our technician checks
- Discharge sensor ~200 kΩ at 25°C at CN-D_PIPE.
